Adobe Flash Fun

VBS 2013 - created in Adobe Flash CS4
I've been brushing off my Flash skills, because I've been unable to find some ready made animations to use for our digital road sign. We have a strange configuration for the sign so all of the ready made animations get squashed when I try to use them. I got tired of noticing great animations on the rest of the digital signs I've seen in town but static boring stuff on ours and started thinking about what I could do to snazz things up.

We got the digital sign in February and now I know what the software that I have to use to program the sign with can (and mostly can't) do, so thanks to a few "free" vector image sites, I can have the basic pieces ready to animate pretty quickly. The hardest part of it all is coming up with the idea and deciding if the 18pitch sign's resolution is going to treat my animation like I want it to.

The roller coaster above was a free download.  It specified only non-commercial use in its small type. I always kind of hold my breath when it comes to whether or not I think my employer, as a church, is exempt from being "commercial" when it comes to creative commons license - it's a gray area that I believe needs to be cleared up somewhat... anyway, so I  cut the logo from one of the images we got from the Lifeway VBS curriculum while in Photoshop, imported the coaster drawing from Illustrator and animated it in Flash. Now that I'm looking at it a little closer, I wish I had left the logo on the right side instead of having it fly across the stage like that, but hey, live and learn, right?

Stitching Project: Bear

Found a pattern for a simple bear on pinterst - decided to do one of them yesterday evening. It didn't take long and I think it turned out ok. What do you think? I'm not crazy about the shape of the arms - am going to make those a little different next time. I enjoyed doing it so much that I think I'm going to re-purpose those millions of old shirts into cute little plush dolls I can send with our church members when they go on various mission trips. And I should have enough left to put into an Operation Christmas Child box or two this fall.

Hang a Star - Illustration

The original sketch for "Hang a Star". I love to draw snowmen and little animals in scenes. Here's the completed illustration - colored digitally in photoshop.

AI Narrated Audio Books Coming!

I'm so excited to share that I'm fast working towards having AI narrated books available for those of you who prefer to listen to books. They will be available through Google Play to begin with. I haven't decided where else I'll be making them available. Here's the first one.  Books one and two will be available starting January 31, 2023.
