Alice Lemoine - Knitwear

For those who know me, you're aware that I like anything crafty. I crochet and knit and sew little things, and I love learning new stitches. Have been thinking I want to start a new knitting project so I've been looking around to see what I might should do. I have yarn enough for an afghan, but keep thinking that I want to make a sweater - something I think may not take quite as long as an afghan. Not long ago, I fell in love with Katniss' victor sweater from Hunger Games Catching Fire movie. In looking around for who created it, I ran across Alice Lemoine 's work. I hoped for a pattern that I could use to make one for myself vs having to figure out how to do it myself and found a free pattern for a version of it on yarnspirations , but it's doesn't have the character that the original does - although it gives me enough of an idea of what I may need supply wise and might give me an idea of what size to make each piece. Really love the tail in the back and

Inktober #4: Verse Calligraphy, Hosea 10:12

Sketch/Calligraphy - This is only part of the great verse - Needs some work [that "u" and "n" look too much alike for my taste and that weird ligature between then "R" and "g" doesn't work well] and better ink job, but I like the flow and arrangement so may eventually create a vector of this. Sow for yourselves righteousness;      reap steadfast love;      break up your fallow ground, for it is the time to seek the Lord ,      that he may come and rain righteousness upon you. Hosea 10:12 [ESV]

Inktober #2: Tranquil

Not my most successful drawing to date, but still fun to look at - might try it again so I can get the angles right. Inktober #2 Prompt: Tranquil Sketch - pencil on paper Reference - pic by Lydz Leow

Inktober 2018 #1: Poison

Probably not going to make it all month, but I'm going to try for at least one every other day. Don't plan to ink them - my goal is to sharpen my drawing skills some - have really let them atrophy. Without more adieu, here's #1 for Jake Parker's Inktober challenge . Prompt: Poison Sketch - pencil on paper reference photo

Logo Design Process: D-Groups

Pastor requested a logo for our version of d-groups last week. A google search turned up several goodies. The one I guess is one of the original d-group logos was this one: which I thought was kinda interesting and modern-ish. I love their color combination - especially that rich gray, though I would probably need to use the blue and light gray we have in our logo instead [for consistency sake]. Wasn't sure about the sharp speech bubble idea or the text layout in the bubble there... I considered how the speech bubble one might could be altered to better serve our purposes. Then I ran across Northstar Church in Knoxville . Their discipleship pathway had symbols that represented each thing. Here's the d-group one I stalled on: Northstar Church Knoxville's d-group icon Ok - so, that's really cool. Love the shadow too, but it wasn't active enough for me. Later that afternoon, while I was listening to my Amazon music, I saw the "share" icon and a light

Daily Sketch: Frankenstein

Eternal life... Death Dreams

John 3:16 sketch John 3:16   -  digitized sketches in Illustrator then did a mockup in Photoshop Do you dream and remember it? I've always had an over-active dream life... nightmare life, more like, and I often remember what I dream. At least I remember enough snippets of dreams to put them together - probably because I don't have kids or family that forces me to pop out of the bed like a daisy and go to running... [I have too much quiet time... is that even a thing?] Sometimes these dreams become the genesis of a short story, but other times I know they are helping me work out the scary stuff that's happening in my life. Why am I talking about dreaming? It's because I had a weird one that woke me at 4am this morning. A dream that woke me because I died in it - little unusual for me. There's usually danger in my dreams, but I don't usually die in them. Well, thankfully it was an accidental death vs any other sort of terror - the car I was riding
