Daily sketch: Asian Woman Profile

Sketched in blue pencil on white paper - photoshopped onto textured paper. Still doesn't look enough like the model for me to be satisfied with the rendering - lots of practice still needed. Here's the source image: Sketch on left is by Julio Caesar.

Inktober - Sketch 10: Woman [cf Degas' "La Source"]

Actually looked at something to do this one - see source here . The sketch only has the "spirit" of the original.

Sketching - Woman with Eyes Closed

Sketched this while listening to an audio book. Isn't nearly as nice as Vanessa Lemen's original but I enjoyed myself.

Illustration Class - Therese Larsson

Sure would love to devote some time to taking a few of these SVS Learn classes. I'd definitely start with this one by Therese Larsson - Painting Fur and Hair. Found SVS Learn one day while doing the customary searches for resources and tutorials. Would love to take one of the classes in real time but the times they offer the classes aren't good for me. Regardless, sometime next year I'm going to do some of these if for no other reason than that I know I'd enjoy doing them.

Daily Sketch - Hair In the Wind

I don't know what the correlation between listening to audio books and the quality of my sketches, but I can tell you that there is definitely a correlation. My sketches are better in general and exhibit better overall composition when I'm listening to an audio book. They're still not perfect but they are better. Is it because I am focused on the book and so only my observational skills are employed for the sketch - does it help me not to over-analyze?
