JFlah's Blunders

Started working on this while things were quiet around here in 2020 and the minister wanted to revisit the design and update it, get some quotes, etc. Boss brought me some sketches [he's talented and plenty creative himself] and talked through changes to the previous design. Was fun to work on and I hope the project gets approved and that I get to put on my painting apron sometime this summer. This place is chock full of stuff - took a while to clean up the photos and then put the designs on the walls. Pastor requested a logo for our version of d-groups last week. A google search turned up several goodies. The one I guess is one of the original d-group logos was this one: which I thought was kinda interesting and modern-ish. I love their color combination - especially that rich gray, though I would probably need to use the blue and light gray we have in our logo instead [for consistency sake]. Wasn't sure about the sharp speech bubble idea or the text layout in the bubble there... I considered how the speech bubble one might could be altered to better serve our purposes. Then I ran across Northstar Church in Knoxville . Their discipleship pathway had symbols that represented each thing. For the semi-annual car show, we've used a design I made several years ago - at least three or four years ago. Yeah, it's old and so I was hoping I could refresh it. After I created a mark for the event, I got to looking around - found some great wallpaper images of classic vehicles, clipped them out of their backgrounds, added shadows and reflections and ambient color, a background, some filters, and voila! new flyer design. Of course, it took a long time to get everything the way it needed to be since the vehicles were all different sizes and such, but I have to say that I think the new version is a big improvement over the last.
