Bayou Buddies PreK Ministry Logo

Can't help myself - drew another turtle.
Didn't make it into digital form though...

I've been struggling with this logo for a while. It's a good kind of struggling, of course, but you know sometimes things just don't come together quickly and you have to wait until things start to flow. Well, thankfully this week ideas started coming. Here are some of the sketches I did in prep and then an image of the proofs I'm sending. Alligators are hard to make "cute". I didn't give this one any visible teeth, though I wanted to. Anyway, on with the images, right?
Here's one of the first few gator sketches -
it was too grown up for the preschool logo so I put it aside.

Here's the concept they liked most.
So, after a lot of sketches and some head scratching, I ended up with a wooden sign type thing with a gator on top. I thought putting the frog peeking around the side would be cute. I'd have to add some of the usual swamp grasses and such and maybe that dragonfly I did and see what it looked like so a few hours later I ended up with...
Here are three proofs. The wood fence that's in the preschool area is the standard privacy fence, so I did a few that looked like that as per the minister's request. I know that gator eye on the right isn't quite the same size as the other, but although it could be an easy fix, I kind of like it. What do you think?

Freelance Design: Selena Sews

Proofs with the two I liked most at the top... This is the one she chose - definitely my favorite - although she chose the one with the sewing machine for a larger sign she was going to do cut vinyl for. I'm looking forward to seeing these in action. A talented friend asked me to help her with some designs for craft bag tags. If you're interested in seeing some of her side-hustle goods, check out her facebook page .

Writing: Lena - Chapter 2

So - thought I'd post the second chapter of Lena's story too. Let me know if you're enjoying it?  Could possibly release the first installment of this 2 novella story before the end of May. With this story, I feel like I'm flopping around outside of my comfort zone and although it's uncomfortable, I'm assuming these are 'good' growing pains especially since the gospel is a bit more central than in the last story I put out there.   .2. Picked Up Just before sunrise, clouds lumbered off to the northwest. I shivered in my damp clothing and stepped onto the glistening onyx ribbon of road to consider my options: one, follow it to civilization and risk running into Ted or his crew, or two, risk a slow death by turning from the road into the dehydrating desert. I couldn’t tell how far I was from where I had started, and didn’t want to risk meeting anyone along the road once the sun had fully risen, but before I had made a conscious choice, I heard the grave...
