Paint & Pour Swamp Scene

Swamp Scene I did at Joy Petty's shop, Nov 16, 2013 (acrylic on canvas)

This is an acrylic painting I did at a paint and pour party last weekend. We gathered here in town for a birthday celebration and had a blast. I enjoyed doing this, though it isn't gonna make the cut - I mean, it isn't exactly wall-worthy.

We used five colors and three cheap brushes... it was a challenge to make it look decent - though I thought the sample that included a blue tree instead of brown one was slightly nicer... that and my horizon line of trees look very different than everyone else's trees because I made them look super close to the viewer. AND the pelican doesn't look like a pelican. Anyway, this is about as good as it gets for something that was done in less than two hours under those circumstances. And I'm sure you can tell that I'm not the best photographer - ha.

I'd definitely do this again. I had forgotten how much fun doing art in a group setting is. It's lit a fire under me. I'm going to start working on figuring out what it would take to get a oil painting group together. Maybe we could paint something once a quarter, but I'm going to have to do some planning - that and I don't want Joy to feel like I'm stepping on her toes - she's great at what she does, no doubt about that.

Freelance Design: Selena Sews

Proofs with the two I liked most at the top... This is the one she chose - definitely my favorite - although she chose the one with the sewing machine for a larger sign she was going to do cut vinyl for. I'm looking forward to seeing these in action. A talented friend asked me to help her with some designs for craft bag tags. If you're interested in seeing some of her side-hustle goods, check out her facebook page .

Writing: Lena - Chapter 2

So - thought I'd post the second chapter of Lena's story too. Let me know if you're enjoying it?  Could possibly release the first installment of this 2 novella story before the end of May. With this story, I feel like I'm flopping around outside of my comfort zone and although it's uncomfortable, I'm assuming these are 'good' growing pains especially since the gospel is a bit more central than in the last story I put out there.   .2. Picked Up Just before sunrise, clouds lumbered off to the northwest. I shivered in my damp clothing and stepped onto the glistening onyx ribbon of road to consider my options: one, follow it to civilization and risk running into Ted or his crew, or two, risk a slow death by turning from the road into the dehydrating desert. I couldn’t tell how far I was from where I had started, and didn’t want to risk meeting anyone along the road once the sun had fully risen, but before I had made a conscious choice, I heard the grave...
