Faux Beach Party for One

Sand, Shoes & Hat on the Faux Beach - JFleming 2013
A few weeks ago I went to Orange Beach - it was a great trip. I haven't laughed like that in ages, nor have I enjoyed a vacation quite as much as I did that one. Anyway, on the last day of the trip, I got some plastic containers so I could take home some of the sand with me.

I know this is a little strange, but I wanted the sand so I could put my feet in it when I was wanting to go back to the beach. If I worked in a different environment, I'd probably take the sand containers with me to work and put my feet in them while I'm there, but as it is, I've been putting my feet in the containers while I'm at home. Originally, I thought I'd make a sand box for that purpose, but having the sand be in containers that I can actually lift is nice too. It's been great to immerse myself in that faux beach by putting my feet in the sand. Those dollar store containers are just big enough for a foot to wriggle around in. I've been thinking that all I need now is a fan and one of those sounds of the ocean CDs.

These are some of the shells I picked up while in Orange Beach.
I put them into one of my grandmother's old blue Ball jars.

Freelance Design: Selena Sews

Proofs with the two I liked most at the top... This is the one she chose - definitely my favorite - although she chose the one with the sewing machine for a larger sign she was going to do cut vinyl for. I'm looking forward to seeing these in action. A talented friend asked me to help her with some designs for craft bag tags. If you're interested in seeing some of her side-hustle goods, check out her facebook page .

Writing: Lena - Chapter 2

So - thought I'd post the second chapter of Lena's story too. Let me know if you're enjoying it?  Could possibly release the first installment of this 2 novella story before the end of May. With this story, I feel like I'm flopping around outside of my comfort zone and although it's uncomfortable, I'm assuming these are 'good' growing pains especially since the gospel is a bit more central than in the last story I put out there.   .2. Picked Up Just before sunrise, clouds lumbered off to the northwest. I shivered in my damp clothing and stepped onto the glistening onyx ribbon of road to consider my options: one, follow it to civilization and risk running into Ted or his crew, or two, risk a slow death by turning from the road into the dehydrating desert. I couldn’t tell how far I was from where I had started, and didn’t want to risk meeting anyone along the road once the sun had fully risen, but before I had made a conscious choice, I heard the grave...
