Student Leadership Shirt Design

This is the stuff I'd been using to promote Student Leadership.
The student minister asked for a student leadership shirt for his kids. I had been using an optical flare and some shiny metallic text to promote it and he said that's the look he wanted for the shirt, but I didn't believe it would translate well - besides it would cost a pretty penny.

Here's the whole shirt design
After a few shots in the dark and showing him several samples of shirt designs I found online, he said he liked the idea of words building words and gave me a concept to run with.

Once I got into the thick of things, I realized that I am not good at fitting words within a letter shaped container. The sample I was studying looked so much nicer and oh, so much more refined than mine ended up looking like - that's probably because that designer started with only five letter shapes to fill with synonyms. Anyway, I did finally come to a point where I decided the artwork was "done," but it was painful to send that proof off because what I wanted to do was start over from scratch. I learened a lot about the process but just didn't have any more time I could spend on that one project.

What do you think about my final? Did I really ruin it?

"Follow Me as I Follow Christ" - boy, does that need work!

Freelance Design: Selena Sews

Proofs with the two I liked most at the top... This is the one she chose - definitely my favorite - although she chose the one with the sewing machine for a larger sign she was going to do cut vinyl for. I'm looking forward to seeing these in action. A talented friend asked me to help her with some designs for craft bag tags. If you're interested in seeing some of her side-hustle goods, check out her facebook page .

Writing: Lena - Chapter 2

So - thought I'd post the second chapter of Lena's story too. Let me know if you're enjoying it?  Could possibly release the first installment of this 2 novella story before the end of May. With this story, I feel like I'm flopping around outside of my comfort zone and although it's uncomfortable, I'm assuming these are 'good' growing pains especially since the gospel is a bit more central than in the last story I put out there.   .2. Picked Up Just before sunrise, clouds lumbered off to the northwest. I shivered in my damp clothing and stepped onto the glistening onyx ribbon of road to consider my options: one, follow it to civilization and risk running into Ted or his crew, or two, risk a slow death by turning from the road into the dehydrating desert. I couldn’t tell how far I was from where I had started, and didn’t want to risk meeting anyone along the road once the sun had fully risen, but before I had made a conscious choice, I heard the grave...
