"Creatives have to eat too"

http://blog.deviantmonk.com/how-to-motivate-a-creative/

Found an article in a strange round about way after finding out that the Dan Stevers video we've purchased at work to supplement our Christmas program graphics was actually animated by Jason Watson.

On Jason's blog he's written several great articles, one of which is a post about how to motivate creatives. I'm with him on each one of the points he makes and wish that administrators and decision makers were more aware of the truths represented within that article. The three key points of the article are:
  1. Provide clear/decisive direction to your creative partner.
  2. Make your creative partner a part of the creative planning process.
  3. Pay your creative well.
Jason fleshes these points out in a logical and thoughtful way that is kind to both the creatives and their employers and I very much recommend it to you. I haven't read the other articles he's got on his blog, though I plan to over the next several days, as those look instructive and well thought out as well.

And on another note, if you're ever looking for some great After Effect tutorials, check out Dan's blog. His tutorials are easy to follow and very instructive. You'll be working in AE like a pro after only a short while.

Freelance Design: Selena Sews

Proofs with the two I liked most at the top... This is the one she chose - definitely my favorite - although she chose the one with the sewing machine for a larger sign she was going to do cut vinyl for. I'm looking forward to seeing these in action. A talented friend asked me to help her with some designs for craft bag tags. If you're interested in seeing some of her side-hustle goods, check out her facebook page .
