You know, I've never been much good at giving a solid quote for a freelance job. I always end up spending too much time on the design in my effort to make the client happy (and to be sure I don't overlook something important). I'm currently designing a short devotional book that the client wants to submit to Createspace (Amazon.com's publisher). I've done some pamphlets and little booklets and thought I knew enough to make InDesign do what I wanted it to. I did, thank goodness, but I had to freshen up my understanding of a few particulars about the file saving since I've only worked with local printers - never an actual book print shop that is super particular about what the submitted files look like. Anyway, needless to say I've got probably 20 hours in this job and I am only going to get about $100 for the design - that's less than minimum wage and I've got a design degree. Ha! I'm a chump, I guess. I quoted this one low because I always give cut rates to Christian churches and other such Christian endeavors, but I really underbid this one. I still need to complete the cover design for them and I know that'll take another two hours. Yep, I'm silly. I did really want to design the devotional though, and I've learned a great deal about the process (could probably stand to learn more), so it's not a complete loss.
Anyway, I finished that women's mentoring group logo. Here's a copy of that:
I enjoyed finishing this one up. I love sunflowers and curly vines. Thankfully they liked them too.
