Cannibalizing the Golden Goose

My sister sent me an article this afternoon that got me riled up again. It is so hard to reconcile facts in my mind. I mean, we’re living in a time where this "democratic" government is forcing people to do the things that go contrary to what they believe and in my mind (and in the minds of a great many others) that isn't the "freedom" that this country was built upon. I'm speaking specifically about the government mandating that tax payers have to fund abortions whether or not they personally support it; and businesses being told that they have to do the same or face huge fines...

I’m telling you, you may as well call Obama “Hitler” or “Stalin” cause he’s leading this country in that direction as fast as he possibly can. That's what Hitler did when he was in power. To shut down businesses that didn't step in line with what the leaders wanted them to - they just passed regulations that put those companies out of business - stupid stuff like, you can't have square tables at restaurants cause they could cause injury and if you don't comply in two days you're going to be fined $800 per infringement.

What doesn't make sense to me is that after all the warnings and all the obvious failure of socialistic structures (specifically as evident in Europe right now), you'd think people in this nation would stop holding their hands out so that government will fix all their boo-boos or spoon feed them their mushy peas. Now that the society structure is such that only 51% of people are paying income taxes, the economy is barely able to make enough to stay afloat. The Obama court seems to believe that if we suck more blood out of the job makers to give to the bums... -sigh- what are they thinking? When we start cannibalizing the golden goose things fall apart. (This article explains what I mean pretty well.) Basically, when more than half the country is sitting around, watching reruns of their soaps, waiting with their hands out instead of working and being responsible for their own lives, the government gets so bottom heavy that it can't move forward.Think about it. If you have eighty dogs and only two bags of dog food, how do you feed all of them if they're dependent upon your provisions? Some of those dogs will have to get out there and hunt to feed themselves, or turn on each other.

You heard that one of the first things Obama did when he was reelected? Within hours he had rushed in there to start pushing that UN arms trade agreement. That agreement with the United Nations is just one more thing that chips away at America’s autonomy and is SUCH a terribly bad idea for any country who wants to be independent. (If I remember correctly, it's the same agreement that Regan refused to sign all those years ago, but that the UN keeps pressing forward on the U.S. - or it may have been that Climate Change one instead). Then there's that unsettling article I saw on Fox about how Obama is gonna let the UN tax the United States directly - that's something I am (but shouldn't be) surprised about.

With all of the above mentioned things (and I know this probably sounds crazy, but) I can see how this administration is bringing about the end of this country. Soon we’ll have that "one world government" that is spoken about in the Bible. (We already pretty much have a one world financial system, don't we?) I figure in the next 40-50 years we'll be there. I mean, this country was the last democratic holdout, but we’ve sold our soul to China for shoddy products (and given them our trade secrets too) and… anyway, I'm starting to ramble but, yeah, future’s not pretty. Thank goodness God is in control and He doesn't change!

The country voted for that monster of a leader and they’re getting what they voted for – even more monstrous legislation and consequences that, although bad now, will be even worse for our children and their children. It’s terrible! And what is that nonsense about every public business being termed “secular” according to the Obama administration? (check out an article about this.) They mean that if you pay taxes or make any profit, your business is a secular one? What a load of bull! So, what they really mean is that it doesn't matter if it's your blood, sweat and tears that is built into your company and it doesn't matter how you want to run your company –  your business doesn’t belong to you, it belongs to the government; it belongs to the “people”, to society at large. Believe it people - that's where this country is headed at break-neck speed. That quip that Obama made, "you didn't make that", is starting to haunt business owners.

The Obama administration is chipping away at our “freedom” and as a whole, we’re letting them. It’s like those Christian businesses, cities, and schools who get those “cease and desist” letters from that so called “freedom from religion” foundation. Instead of saying, “Oh, no! I’m not removing the cross we put up 75 years ago to honor war veterans. You go suck an egg,” they quietly censor themselves. Soon, the whole country will be void of any religious freedom, void of the freedom of expression or even freedom of thought. It's like those groups get all flustered when they get one of those letters and instead of doing their homework to find out that NONE of those lawsuits that the freedom from religion foundation have brought against people/businesses have won. That group, even though it is heavily funded, LOST every one of the lawsuits it has brought against people in order to remove religious icons and such...

I wish there was something I could do, but there are apparently not enough of those of us who care – just not enough people to make a real difference any more – as evidenced by the poor voter turnout… Anyway, while I was doing research this evening so that I could write this post I came across an article about how there are 40 states who have petitions filed at whitehouse.gov. They've filed petitions to secede from the United States...
40 states petition for peaceful secession. I signed the one for Louisiana - couldn't help myself. I have thought more than once that I wish I lived in a different country. I don't think the state will really pull away from the union, but if they do, I'm supporting it. Did you see the map of how people voted in the election? Half the country was blue and half the country was red.

Stitching Project: Bear

Found a pattern for a simple bear on pinterst - decided to do one of them yesterday evening. It didn't take long and I think it turned out ok. What do you think? I'm not crazy about the shape of the arms - am going to make those a little different next time. I enjoyed doing it so much that I think I'm going to re-purpose those millions of old shirts into cute little plush dolls I can send with our church members when they go on various mission trips. And I should have enough left to put into an Operation Christmas Child box or two this fall.

Hang a Star - Illustration

The original sketch for "Hang a Star". I love to draw snowmen and little animals in scenes. Here's the completed illustration - colored digitally in photoshop.
